Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They let a site remember things between visits. Like whether you are signed in, your theme preference, or whether you have accepted a cookie banner.
2. Cookies we use
Essential cookies (no consent required)
- Session token: keeps you signed in. Expires after 30 days of inactivity. Required for the platform to function.
- CSRF token: protects forms and authenticated actions from cross-site request forgery. Session-only.
- francaisia_cookie_consent: remembers whether you accepted or declined optional analytics cookies. Required to honour your choice and to keep a record of consent for Quebec Bill 25 and GDPR. Expires after 1 year.
Functional cookies
- Theme preference: remembers whether you chose dark or light mode.
- Locale preference (when applicable): remembers your interface language choice.
Analytics (auto-loaded, anonymized)
- Vercel Analytics: anonymized page views and basic traffic metrics. Per Vercel's privacy policy, no PII is collected and IP addresses are truncated. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- Vercel Speed Insights: Core Web Vitals measurement (LCP, INP, CLS) for performance monitoring. No PII.
Disclosure (v1).Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights load on every page based on Vercel's stated privacy compliance. The Francaisia cookie banner records your acceptance choice for Quebec Bill 25 evidence-of-consent purposes; granular gating that also blocks Vercel Analytics from firing may be added post-launch based on user feedback.
What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No third-party behavioural-tracking scripts.
- No social-media pixels.
- No fingerprinting or device-graph services.
3. Managing your choices
When you first visit Francaisia, the cookie banner offers you Accept or Decline with equal prominence. Your choice is recorded in the francaisia_cookie_consent cookie and respected on subsequent visits.
You can also clear cookies via your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge all expose this). Clearing the consent cookie causes the banner to reappear on the next visit so you can choose again.
4. Updates to this list
If we add or remove a cookie, we will update this page and refresh the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the consent banner so you can re-confirm your choice.
